Charming and whimsical, this Art Deco silver-plated cocktail shaker takes the form of a stylized slide trombone. In the glamorous "Roaring Twenties," new musical styles including jazz, blues and ragtime were reaching grand heights of popularity. Instruments like the trombone were an essential part of the upbeat and syncopated rhythms that kept the nightclubs of the era dancing.
Originally manufactured by Napier, USA for Alfred Dunhill of London, the shaker's cover and fitted pump are analogous to the trombone's "mouthpiece," while its spout forms the slide. Pumping the mouthpiece allows the cocktail to be mixed thoroughly, while the swiveling slide dispenses the perfect pour.
