This wonderful pair of Louis XVI-style bronze chenets features patinated, cloaked cherub figures seated on ornate gilt bronze plateau and keeping themselves warm by the fire. Chenets, or andirons, were a staple in well-appointed homes, and were placed in front of a fireplace to protect priceless rugs and flooring from rolling logs. Only the grandest homes had chenets as beautifully designed as these.
